Iran's Tourist Attractions Displayed at Berlin ITB Exhibition

TEHRAN Berlin ITB Exhibition is held every year with participation of several countries in a bid to present tourist attractions of different nations at international level. It is one of the biggest international exhibitions throughout This year, the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken part in this exhibition, which opened on March 6 and will run through March 11. Deputy Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister and Head of Iran's Touring and Tourism Organization Mohammad Moezzoddin, who is currently in Berlin, held talks on Monday with the head of the International Tourism Union, who is also deputy secretary general During this meeting, held at the Islamic Republic of Iran's pavilion at the exhibition, the head of the International Tourism Union agreed to provide Iran with the union's experience in attracting tourists and promoting tourism industry in Iran. The head of the International Tourism Union further expressed satisfaction with the activities carried out by Iran in the field of marketing, saying that he would visit the Islamic Republic of Iran in the near future.

It is worth saying that Iran's Tourism and Automobile Club as well as several Iranian travel agencies are actively participating in the Berlin ITB Exhibition. Iran's pavilion at the Berlin ITB Exhibition covers an area of 150 sq m. During his stay in Berlin, Moezzoddin will exchange views with heads and representatives of international tourism unions and organizations. Some 7,434 suppliers of travel and tourism facilities from 1,900 regions and countries are taking part in the six-day exhibition.

The first ITB exhibition was held in Berlin in 1996 with participation of Egypt, Brazil, Iraq, Guinea and Germany. There were only nine suppliers of tourism facilities in that exhibition, which was visited by only 250 tourism experts. Some 2,961 suppliers of tourism facilities from 152 countries took part in another ITB exhibition held in Berlin in 1998, which was visited by some 30,000 tourism experts.
